★ Who’s Using WordPress?

WordPress is now over ten years old and its popularity is still growing. Originally a blogging platform, since the release of WordPress 3.0, WordPress has made its full fledged triumphant step onto the CMS stage. WordPress developers used to hack the snot out of WordPress to get it to do what they wanted, but now, with features like Custom Post Types, Custom Taxonomies and Widgets, WordPress is a legit CMS platform that is even better to use than most of the other popular CMS’ on the market.
There are still plenty of developers and designers (mostly developers) who don’t believe in the power of WordPress. They don’t believe that WordPress is a powerful, easy to develop and user friendly CMS that is actually being used to build “real” websites and not just blogs. But they are wrong.
WordPress is being used all over the interwebs for more than just blogs and by some really powerful names and companies. WordPress.org has a really great showcase of websites that are powered by the mighty WordPress; full CMS sites, blogs, e-commerce, business, education and colleges.
Here is a few of my favorite websites that are showcased on WordPress.org:
Well, if Rocky uses it, then I think WordPress has finally arrived.

It’s a platform that’s truly come of age. They did this by actually listening to it’s community of users and shaping a platform that people actually wanted it.
I remember installing it in 2003 , using it as a very basic CMS and loving it right away. Probably had zero idea on how far it would progress. Custom post types changed everything again.. Can’t wait to see it in another 10!

I’ve been using WordPress since 2006 and even waaaay back then it was still a great cms, very limited but great. I used to hack everything up so bad I could never update my plugins though so its great that WordPress has finally arrived.
My clients have always loved using WordPress too. From their perspective it is so easy to use. I’ve had clients actually thank me for not using Drupal, they have used it before and hated managing their site, they felt like they needed a webmaster just to update a post or page.
Thanks for the collection!

Nice collection. It’s amazing that a blog platform has come so far. I’m also looking forward to another 10 more years!

Ben, I started using wordpress in 03 as well for my personal blog stuff and now I’m practically using it for everything I do. I have been a part of the wordpress community and your right, they do listen to their users.

I have only been using WordPress now for about 2 years so I am a newbie, but loving it. Jake, I have also done some design and develop in Drupal and Joomla and I’ll never do that again if I can avoid it. I took those off my resume – learning some Expression Engine now, that’s pretty awesome too.
Thanks for the comments! I love it.
